Yesterday I found out that I didn't need two of the classes that I was taking because I had passed both of my AP tests, and so I was able to drop them and pick up an online computer class. But OH MY GOSH have I got a ton of time on my hands!!!! I don't know what to do with it and it's horrible to waste!! It's like getting a huge load of peaches that you can't eat fast enough and you know that they're going to go to waste and the whole time you keep trying to figure out exactly WHAT TO DO WITH THEM!! I actually think I'm going to pick up another Institute class and join a few clubs...maybe that will help...I just feel like I don't have any classes that are challenging me to do or be better! I know I should just take the opportunity to be more self educated and learn things on my own, but I'm kind of going into all this blindfolded. I really don't know what to do. I know everything will be okay, but I really am going crazy because there is NOTHING to do.

Choir Class

I love my choir class! And while I still do miss High School and all the people I met there, I've absolutely LOVED my last two weeks at Snow!
My classes are amazing! Among my most favorite are choir and my honors national government class. I'm so excited to be here! I just got back from a late night run with Jessica and Jessica (who are amazing roommates by the way) and I feel great! I could conquer the world if I really wanted to! My room-roommate's name is Courtney. Yeah, I know, a Courtney and Courtney and a Jessica and Jessica sharing an apartment with a Kelly and an Emily. Haha! I love it!
There's just something really stimulating about staying on top of your homework, staying physically fit, having a great time and feeling the spirit that makes you happy! Plus, I should be getting a letter sometime soon from South Dakota and that doesn't hurt at all either. ;)
Oh! While we're on the subject of AMAZING!!!! Guess who I met the other day at the temple dedication....President Monson and President Eyring!!!! I shook President Eyring's hand and President Monson saw me and smiled when I waved and then he waved back...he's so funny! I love him! He is one of the most amazing people I have ever met!
Well...that's about it! I'll try to keep this more up to date cause I haven't posted anything in a while. I honestly never thought I'd be doing this again! I figure no one reads these things anyway, so I'll be able to just say whatever is on my mind.
It's so strange that my last post was about missing a friend and this one is the exact same thing. Paul leaves for the MTC tomorrow and while I'm excited for him I still miss him. His Farewell was on Sunday and he was soooo nervous! His voice cracked once, and he pulled at the microphone 22 times...Jessica and I counted, and that didn't inclued the last part of his talk where he just CLUG to it. Haha! Oh man, he makes me laugh! Anyway, there was something in his talk that really stuck with me and that was that there are people out there who don't know that they're children of God! Not only is that one of the most important facts that I have learned but it's also one that is divine in it's truth! I'm so glad he's serving the Lord! After his talk I mouthed "good job" to him, he smiled back and seemed to calm down a bit, but I think he was still a little nervous.
His parents spoke with him. Haha! I got to say, his dad is a hoot! Haha! He was cracking jokes over the pulpit and Jessica (Brown) turns to me, laughing, and was like, "Oh man! He is a funny guy!" Haha! Anyway, they kept looking at me during the meeting...like Paul would talk to them and they'd all look at me...which was kind of awkward...Of course....Okay, I got to say it! Before the actual meeting Jessica, Jessica and I were in the bathroom singing, dancing, etc....and then a woman suprised us and came out of one of the stalls!!! And if THAT wasn't embarrassing enough...when we went into the chapel I saw that that same woman was sitting next to Paul on the stand...yeah...OF COURSE it was his mom! With my luck it would have to be!!
Haha! Anyway...it was really interesting to meet members of his family when we went to his house afterwards. His niece Sage is soo adorable!! She was soo shy when he introduced her to me, but once I asked her what books she likes to read, her eyes sparkled with excitement as she told me about Little Women and Anne of Green Gables (two of my own favorites).
I gave him his present too: Retractable highlighters...don't ask...long story...and yes, I know we ARE dorks!! :)
Haha! Oh man, I'm really going to miss him! But it's all good! He's serving the Lord and the Lord will make it right. :) The church is true!! ...I can't wait to write him his first letter!! I've already got a bunch of things to tell him and he doesn't leave for the MTC until tomorrow!! Oh man, words aren't enough to say how proud I am of him!!

Missing a Friend

Andy is still at his summer boot camp and the little crazy monkey hasn't even written yet! He's been gone like two, maybe three weeks and I haven't gotten one letter! It's starting to really make me nervous! I really miss him! He's like the twin brother I never had and right now he's in some camp being torn to pieces by a Drill Sargent! I'm really protective and just the thought makes me angry that he got into this in the first place! But that's not fair. I know he's doing the right thing for him right now, but I really hope he realizes what a demanding lifestyle it is! Anyway, I really do love the kid and I really wish him the best of luck. Perhaps I just need buck up and remember that I shouldn't let my worry cloud what I know is absolutely right.

At least I'm holding up better than Rachel though! She's counting down the days until he comes home! Okay, I'm not THAT worried! But it is probably harder for her because she still has feelings for him. Anyway, my thoughts are just everywhere today so I thought I'd vent a little here.

My Poetry!

So... here's the deal! But to be fair I've been pretty busy! School really hit down hard third quarter and continued into fourth. My AP test was... interesting. I swear, I lost weight in the few weeks before the test cause all I did was study! And even after the test I didn't feel like I did very well! Ah well. It's all over now!

I've also had Orchestra both at school and RMO. School Orchestra has had Orchestra Tour to New York, region and state festivals, and our annual Orchestra banquet. RMO... not very exciting. Our last concert (well the last one I went to) was the Concerto Night. *snore, snore, snore!* I wasn't able to make it to the last one because I was at Girl's State.

Dating has been good! I've now been on a total of nine dates all together. Since Sweethearts though... there was seeing 'Singing in the Rain' with Jordan, Morp with Austin, Homemade Pizza with Colton, a movie with Joe, the Spontaneous Dance with Colton, and then this last week I went hiking with Joe. So the dating... it's healthy... that's all I can say.

But above all, the best thing I've done for the past few months is going to Girl's State! I loved it! I'm normally really shy around people I don't really know but I was put with 27 girls from all over Utah -hadn't seen one in my life!- and the very first night of being there we stayed up till midnight and suprisingly I did a lot of the talking and was the center of attention a lot of the time! After spending a week with those girls I learned that I didn't have to live up to a level of expectation to talk to someone or be their friend, but that by being myself -my own embarassing, loud, ...and sometimes eccentric self- I am can serve another as an equal human being with no selfish expectations. And I can count on others to think likewise. I think we get so confused in this world! So caught up in our natual human emotions of jealousy, hatred, and even love that we forget to be the person God intended us to be!

Another thing I learned at Girl's State was what it really ment to be patriotic! I mean I thought I was! I love our country! But now I have open eyes to the amazing liberties our ancestors fought for, that people in other corners of the world are STILL fighting for! And sadly, there are many in this noble country that cease to have the faith and devotion to America that I have gained a new appreciation for! It's like a disease that has affected the mind set of many of America's population! There is not enough respect and gratitude in this country at the present moment toward those men who sacrficed lives, time, families, and everything they had for what our country stands for!

So yah! Girl's State was AMAZING!! For all you younger girls: After Junior year apply to go! You will love it! It was one of the most memorable weeks of my life! Graduation was terrible though! I told myself I wasn't going to cry and of course every picture Grandma Lewis took of me proved me wrong! But I loved all the girls in my city, and I still keep in touch with a lot of them! They're some of my best friends!

Anyway, this is a very long post! But like I've said I haven't been here for a while! I'll try to keep up, but it's gets really hard sometimes so cut some slack and keep loving me! I've got to make sure I have all my cross country stuff ready for tomorrow morning so... TTFN! -tah tah for now!-

Sweethearts

Hey World!! So, last night I went to Sweethearts with my friend Eric. I was really fun! We went bowling during the day. (I lost of course, but Eric won so hey, I was okay with it!) We ate dinner at the Barlocker's house and Oh My Gosh! Erlyn went all out. Mandy, Tony, and Bethany were our waiters and we ate by candle light while looking out on the valley. (They live in high country and they have the BEST view the the Salt Lake Valley.) When we went to the dance I had to teach Eric how to waltz, but that was okay with me, it was fun. Afterwards, I wanted to go accross the street to the stake dance for some more dancing. So I told everyone we should go together. In the end, it was only me, Eric, Rachel, and Andy. Everyone else had to either get home or their feet were killing them after waring those nasty heels. (I went in white sneakers. That's my style!!) It kinda amazed me how weird people are about that kinda stuff. I mean, during dinner I couldn't cut my chicken up very well and I told Eric it would be so much easier to shove it in my face. He asked me why I didn't just to it. So I did it. It was better than trying to cut it up! I mean come on, if it works better another way isn't that the way you should do it? My friend spent six hundred bucks on the dance and I barely spent fifty. I find it amazing that people can do stuff like that. Ya know what I mean? Or am I just being some kind of cheap critic that can't connect with the rest of the world? I thought it was fun anyhow.

President Hinckley

I wanted to take the time to say how much I love President Hinckley. It was such a shock to hear about his death on Sunday. I felt almost guilty because I didn't cry, but I felt sick- like my stomach had turned upside down and for a brief second I couldn't breath. I couldn't sleep well that night and I didn't know why until I remembered to say my prayers and read my scriptures.

The next day in seminary my teacher really put it in perspective. I mean, I always knew and understood the phrase "They're in a better place." or "They're really happy now." But he told us that Pres. Hinckley was having a hay day on the other side. He was seeing his family, his friends, but who else? I bet he's already high-fived all the other prophets all the way down to Adam!! And Joseph Smith, I bet they had a LOT to talk about!! And even better, Our Savior!!! I bet they've been able to hang out for a while!! Anyway, I thought it was cool- the way Brother Taylor put it.

*Thank you President Hinckley for everything you've done for the church as a whole and me as an individual.*

A Whole Month?

Wow! I can not believe how fast this month has gone by! Well just a little recap, Becky and I had our whole date thing at my house and it was really fun. I cleaned my room!!! FINALLY!! School has been totally lame now that all my fun classes are gone. (I had to exchange sewing and ballroom dance for computer tech and financial lit. URGH!! Last week for Young Women's I snuck out with some of my Laurel buddies to ask my friend Tanner out to Sweathearts. Turns out another girl asked him 15 minutes before I got there. But that was okay because I just asked my friend Eric last weekend and he said yes today, so that was pritty exciting. This weekend was really fun. On Friday I went to see the musical "Pipen" at Hillcrest with my friends Sarah, Brooke, and Josh. On Saturday I asked Eric, went to the boys basketball game and had a movie party at my house. I'm really excited for tour this year. Our Orchestra gets to go to New York City and the hotel we're staying at is in the middle of Time Square!!! I also pritty sure that we get to play at ground zero. I want to get my parents to get me a video camera (but they're already paying for me to go in the first place) so that I can bring it along because it's going to be a really amazing experience. I really feel like I'm just rambling now, so I'm gonna go and hopefully remember to update this more often.

School and Stuff

School started again today and I really don't know what to think about it. I mean I'm glad to finally have something to get me thinking again, but I hate how much time everything takes up! At least tomorrow's my easy day! We get to start on our blanket in sewing and I just picked out my fabric tonight. It's really cute! When I get my sewing machine fixed I'm gonna have to make another one because I saw this other really cute material at the store with Eeyore, Tiger, Roo, and Pooh. -Yes Coco! I thought of you!- Jessica gets to see BYU kid tomorrow so that should be fun! -By the way Damia, I'm gonna have to fill ya in on that little detail!-

New Years Eve was really fun! After a day of cleaning my mother's messy office and listening to the Scarlet Pimpernel, we all went over to Danzies. They had Kareoke, fondu, and best of all, Whittney, Mandy, Ashley, Anna and Me all went down stairs and played ultimate spoons! It was SOOO fun! I think I hit my head in several places and the bruises on my arms and legs were a little much, but I still think it was worth it! New Years Day was really fun too! -I spent it mostly with my Coco and my favorite some-what cousin Becky!!!! I love you guys!!- ANYWAY! That's my life right now. Pritty boring, but hey it's mine and I'm okay with it!!!

-banana!!!!!- hehe!

Sorry!

I haven't been here for a while, so sorry! I've had a lot of stuff going on at school and haven't been given the opportunity to go on the computer except to check my e-mail. (By the Coco, that picture of Cederic was AMAZING!!! I could TOTALY see Edward!) Besides school I've had Orchestra concerts, family parties, I played in sacrament meeting last Sunday and I'm playing tomorrow as well, My family went up to Salt Lake City last week to check out the lights and we ate at the cafe at the Lion House, I love the snow!!!!!!! I wish we had more of it though, I can't wait for Christmas, and I cleaned out my e-mail inbox. (FINALLY!!!!!) As you can see, I've had a full month. -Of course complete with this horrible week of torture. Anyway, we just picked out presents for our family's secret santa thing. I had Allison and I got her this really cute blue shirt with butterflies on it. I think I'll have to "borrow" it sometime. Other than everything else above, I've been catching up on some of my favorite shows. (caugh:ROBIN HOOD!!!!) I got to go and clean my room so it's clean for Christmas! Bye!

Seven Random Facts?

I guess I've put off doing this for too long. Coco tagged me to write seven random facts about me. At least I think that's what it was, but anyway, here they are.

1. I love musicals. Sometimes my mother gets mad at me for singing and dancing to the same broadway classic over and over. My favorite broadway play is The Scarlet Pimpernel, although I will confess I have never seen it, but I do know every song sung in it.

2. I've been suffering from a sore throat and cough these last couple of days, and a couple of days ago my mom bought me some medicine stuff that numbs your mouth and the pain in your throat. I figured they were just like cough drops, so I had five in one hour. (The box said to only take one every two hours.) To say the least, I was VERY loopy working on my book project at 1:00 in the morning, and I honestly don't know how I got through it with out falling dead asleep.

3. I'm a sucker for classical romance. My personal favorites will always be Jane Austen's six novels, but I also love Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre and Charles Dicken's A Tale of Two Cities. Not to mention Little Women, The Inheritance, AHHHHH! Never mind I could go on FOREVER!

4. I've decided that when I finally get to college I want to do something with English of History and minimize the amount of science and math I have to take because honestly don't see my self studying Quantum Physics or the velocity of a falling ball....yah de yah de yah!!

5. This week I only have three days of school and today is my second day. I can't wait for this weekend! I need to catch up with my homework...but I know that isn't going to happen!

6. I love to run. If you were to ask me why I'd probably just make you stare at me blankly in confusion. (I like the burning and aching sensation in your calf, and the endorphins make you feel really happy, but it also helps me clear my head by increasing the pain in it.) -I know! NO SENSE!!!-

And finally.....

7. Mom needs me to drive her to the post office right now so I have to go.

So long, Farewell, A Ve Der Something....Goodbye!

Orchestra Concert

So, yesterday was our (Riverton City Orchestra) Veteran's Day concert and I didn't know about it until an hour before call time. Liz picked me up and we played our usual Patriotic program but I still felt really unprepared because I haven't played those songs since last summer. (We got the music for the concert last week, and that was the week I skipped practice because hey, I wasn't gonna go on my birthday!) All in all though it was a really good concert and the speaker was really good too. In fact, I think he was the first speaker at our patriotic concerts that didn't put me to sleep. One thing from his talk that really has stayed in my mind is he said that while many of us find it hard to agree with our present circumstance of war, if we are to succeed in our cause we must unite spiritually and allow God to help those who are defending freedom in the name of the United States. It was really cool to feel the spirit in a Patriotic setting and realize the thin line that divides country and church.

Mom's Still Sick

Today is Sunday, and today Mom didn't go to church because she is still sick. She's finally going to see the doctor tomorrow thank goodness! After having strep throat for about a week she broke out into hives and she's had to stay in bed. But other than that today was really tiring. I think it had something to do with the stake dance last night. It was really fun! -Except I was trying to do a spin and lift with my friend during a swing song and my skirt went up a little high in front of a kid in my Orchestra class.- ANYWAY! I only danced a couple slow songs, but they didn't count because two were with my friend Tony because he was trying to avoid another girl, and the other one was with a wierd guy in my Ballroom Dance class who doesn't know about this little thing we call DEODERENT!! But ya know he did know how to waltz so that scored him a few points. Anyway I have stuff due for school tomorrow (I gotta finish reading The Scarlet Letter, which is by the way a great book so far.) so I gotta go. TTFN!

My Birthday and Sleeping Over at Coco's Place

Well, I'm at Coco's place right now because we had a sleepover last night, (All I wanted for my birthday.) and she set me up with a blog, and now she's making me write in it. My birthday was... okay. I have to say that I feel bad for anyone who had to associate with me. I was so apethetic and ... blah! I did not want to turn seventeen, and don't anyone say I have no right to use that "I'm getting so old" excuse because I'm only upset because since I've been ten seventeen has been the year that I refered to as "adult".
